Pure sulforaphane can kill kidney cells at 10 µM, but the whole isothiocyanate extract (including PEITC) showed no cell death even at 20x concentration, and even promoted new kidney cell growth.

Despite being labeled NRF2 activators, compounds like curcumin, resveratrol, and EGCG fail to induce NRF2 in the body at typical supplement doses because they cannot reach the necessary cellular concentration. They can, however, enhance sulforaphane's effect via different mechanisms.
